Hello, everyone. So, I've found this art piece relatively not long ago, and I wanted to ask the question outloud: Do you think the concept of the 3d side's (the player) influence will be input in the game just as careful, and will it fit just as well and natural, as it was in Undertale? And how do you think they will send messages through the 4th wall? Will Frisk's influence be concidered as the player's? Or should Chara play the important role here? Or... any other ideas?

Ach, finally some discussion I can get behind. Or... I could, if I was allowed to give away any relevant information. Rest assured, though, this is a point I try to stress whenever I can sneak in a bit of influence over the story. I find that bringing in the player as a 3rd party unlocks a whole new facet of the lore (hence that whole bloody fan fiction I wrote... exploring that facet.)
That art is pretty cool, btw. I've never seen the concept directly illustrated like that before.

I hope they'll do that. It can (almost) make you feel like you are part of the game. It can even help with the immersion in some cases. I personally love when games do that, but I also know that some people dislike it, a lot.

It would be an interesting idea. The thought of some unseen force influencing things that doesn't have to adhere to morality or any consequences to themselves is terrifying. But depending on the player this force could range from good to pure evil to everything in between.

I actually played Oneshot about two weeks ago. It was better than i expected, considering there was no combat at all. That game REALLY made you feel like you were part of it. But I dont think it'll fit an undertale fan game to be as openly player-involved as Oneshot.

Nah, that would be weird. I think implication's the name of the game with anything Undertale related. Calling out the player in second-person ten minutes into the game doesn't quite count as "implicit".

In my opinion, it's like what happened with pokemon, just another graphics upgrade. TBH, if I were to buy a game who's main focus is the story. I'd go for Ubisoft or Square Enix. If competitive gameplay, infinity ward, treyarch, or DICE, if gameplay, first guy I think of is Sid Meier. Or if I wanna try something new later on, probably indie games or game projects like this. Toby Fox must be going crazy over you people, I just wonder what your incentive is for making this game. I mean, at least the YouTube channel. Some of the OSTs gotta be at least made by you. If those aren't monetized, then idk what. Who knows, it could also be that scholarship at college or a university. That could be a good reason.

The origin of having actual will to make a game as such, comes from far far 2015 (or early 2016) when everyone was overfilled with those emotions that Undertale left them with. That is why some nice fan games are being cancelled nowadays - people don't have inspiration anymore. I am so glad this is not how it works with Overtale. Any time I ask Mojo or someone else, I hear that the are doing just great. And other than having a dedicaded leader, the members of the team seem to have good relations as well, which with the presence of apathy, helps them stay strong, and united in this. That's a wonderful mechanism, and we are the happy fans of those heroes, that put so much now in completely unprofit project, and... trying their best... That's just 8/8

That's another thing, there's a thing that individual developers have over triple a companies, they don't have to worry about a screwed up game. Ubisoft is learning from this and I have a feeling that if the other big FPS companies don't get their acts together, Ubisoft can take the lead, infact, they just did many times recently. Also, with Far Cry Primal, FAR CRY PRIMAL, such an insult to injury to the other biggest FPS franchises, especially call of duty. Now, DICE is doing a little better, so they are able to catch up. Right now, there's an FPS competition between DICE, IW/3ARC/SHG, and Ubisoft, and I'll tell you, the IW3ARCSHG companies are taking 3rd place out of the 3. Yeah, I think people need to learn that a game isn't a game without some polishing in it with graphics being the last priority. Even Ubisoft is taking a step back on the graphics, incase you haven't noticed, Far Cry 3 had better Graphics than the 4th one, not counting current gen which was a remastered Far Cry 4. However, when it was remastered it was more clunky and glitchy. To the gamers out there, STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE BLOODY F###ING GRAPHICS AND NOT SEEING F##ING A RELEASE DATE. Anyways, have fun guys.
{Spoiler}And yes, that text was green on purpose to show some friendliness to the companies who get blasted at over some silly things.
